Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Tiram is a school located in the zone of Ulu Tiram, at the northwest end of the Pasir Gudang District, and operates within the administration of the Pasir Gudang District Education Office (Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Pasir Gudang). The school's construction first began in 2009 and was completed and officiated by the Ministry of Education in 2011. The school's first principal, Puan Hajah Zubaidah administered the school in its first year of operation alongside about 30 teaching and office staffs, providing quality education to about 350 students. The school reaches continue to grow with Puan Robiah binti Ahamad and Encik Muhamad Ali Bin Harun as its second and third principal with the number of teachers and office staffs increasing up to about 70 and the students enrolment went up as high as 1000 students. Leading the school presently is the SMK Sungai Tiram's sixth principal, En Haji Johan Bin Ahmad.
